- Fast/Slow Pointer And Speed Flag:
Notes:
The Fast/Slow pointer and SPEED flags work with the autothrottle system. For Airlines that do not use autothrottle systems, the Fast/Slow pointer will be dissabled in most cases.
Aircraft equipped WITHOUT an A/T Computer:There is a bussing plug installed across the connector on the rack where the autothrottle computer would normally be installed. This plug has jumper wires that keep the Fast/Slow pointer and SPEED flag biased out-of-view all the time on those aircraft.
SPEED Flag In-view (One ADI Only):
1.Replace ADI.
2.Check wiring from A/T computer rack to indicator.
SPEED FLAG IN-VIEW (BOTH ADI’S):
1.Check busing plug at A/T computer rack (E1).
Aircraft equipped WITH an A/T Computer:The Fast/Slow pointer will be operational even though the autothrottles are not being used.
SPEED Flag In-view (Both ADI’s):
1.Replace autothrottle computer.
2.Check wiring from A/T computer to indicators.
SPEED Flag In-view (One ADI Only):
1.Replace ADI.
2.Check wiring from A/T computer to indicator.
ADI INFORMATION:

Additional Notes:Fast/Slow pointer and SPEED flag can be MEL’d. You will find the MEL reference for the pointer and flag in ATA 34-29-01, rather than ATA 22 where the autothrottle is found.
Applicable deferrals 34-29-01=Speed Command (Fast-Slow) Indicators. 22-4-01=Autothrottle System (if installed).
